Florida is an unusually tough environment for a front-load washer because it combines both major stressors at once. The limestone and karst aquifer underneath most of the state produces genuinely hard water, so scale builds on the heating element and inlet valve, and a mineral-and-detergent film accumulates in the door boot's folds.
