Texas water is hard through most of the state, and genuinely very hard across the Edwards limestone country of central and west Texas. A front-load washer shows it as scale on the heating element, inlet valve screens that clog and slow the fill, and a chalky film in the door boot's folds. The climate then varies sharply by region: the Gulf Coast is humid enough to grow gasket mold quickly, while west Texas is dry. What most of Texas shares is the garage laundry room, extremely common here and brutal on rubber hoses, seals and the door boot through a long, hot summer.
